Breast Cancer Patient Protection

As women we all know someone who has suffered from breast cancer. That’s why I believe this is an important point for all of us.

There is an online petititon available for your signature, requiring that insurance companies guarantee that a woman has the right to stay in the hospital for up to 2 days after a masectomy. Right now many insurance companies are trying to treat masectomies as an outpatient procedure, often sending the patient home with drainage tubes still in place and the anesthesia only barely worn off. This on the same day her breast has been removed!

Not only does a woman need medical care of the best sort, but she also needs some time to recover before she is sent home - often without proper support at home. Can you imagine having to change your bandages, adjust to the loss of a breast, and still care for yourself at home?
